I am determined this should never be allowed to happen at the Council and I am happy to sign the Charter to ensure no-one is ever treated in this way. "Having to face news of a terminal illness is a hugely distressing situation for anyone and we need to offer as much support and advice in the workplace as possible which is why we wholeheartedly support this campaign.”

Leader of West Oxfordshire District Council, James Mills, said:
“I cannot imagine the distress and turmoil caused by being diagnosed with a terminal illness. This Charter ensures that employers are committed to helping staff and their families in whatever way is most appropriate, not least by protecting their employment and removing the worry of losing their financial security. Signing up to it seemed an obvious step and we fully support the campaign.”

Thank you to Wirral Council who signed the charter on 30^th September 2019 providing protection for their 3,239 employees.

Wirral Council cabinet member for finance and resources, Cllr Janette Williamson, said:
“Ensuring our staff are treated well and fairly is really important. It doesn’t take a charter for us to treat our staff with dignity when they are in such difficult circumstances but by signing this I hope we can set a positive example for employers across the borough.”

Cabinet member for finance and change, Cllr Lynden Stowe, said:
“We are pleased to show our support for the Dying to Work Voluntary Charter today, particularly as it coincides with Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning which helps people living with cancer. It’s important that employees who are diagnosed with a terminal illness know they will be supported and not face any additional stress. We hope that by signing this charter we will provide any employees and their families going through this ordeal with security and peace of mind.” Deputy leader of the Labour group at the county council, Cllr Kate Haigh, said:
“The county council already has procedures in place to support staff and their loved ones when facing a terminal diagnosis but it’s important to place this support on record and set an example to others. I’m pleased the charter has been signed today to help people living in these difficult circumstances and I hope other employers do the same.”

Thank you to Gloucester City Council who signed the charter on 26^th September 2019 providing protection for their 221 employees.

Leader of Gloucester City Council, Cllr Paul James, said:
“We are pleased to show our support for the TUC’s Dying to Work Voluntary Charter today. It’s important that employees who are diagnosed with a terminal illness know they will be supported by us and not face any additional stress.” .Jon McGinty, the council’s managing director, said:

Thank you to Welsh Ambulance Service who signed the charter on 23^rd September 2019 providing protection for their 3,500 employees.
